Husky sets up medical and speciality packaging business

Husky Injection Molding Systems has announced changes within its global organisation. Following the acquisition of leading medical and closure mold maker Schöttli, Husky has taken the step of creating a new combined business unit dedicated to medical and speciality packaging.

Steve Lawrynuik, formerly Vice President, Customer Support, will lead this new area of the business as Vice President, Medical and Packaging Systems. This new business unit will bring together Schöttli technology, the capabilities of Husky’s specialty mould making facilities in Austria and the Czech Republic, aftermarket tooling and services, as well as the Hylectric system platform.

Michael Urquhart, Husky’s Vice President Global Sales, Packaging Systems has been instrumental in growing Husky’s packaging business. After 33 years with Husky, Michael will retire at the end of February. Michael joined Husky in 1980 and since that time, has held a number of leadership positions throughout the company’s operations, marketing and sales organizations.

John Galt, Husky’s President/CEO said, “The creation of a dedicated medical and speciality packaging business will allow Husky to provide greater focus on these core markets and offer customers a complete solution, including mould, machine, hot runners, controllers and aftermarket services.”

The company has more than 40 service and sales offices, supporting customers in over 100 countries. Husky’s manufacturing facilities are located in Canada, the Us, Luxembourg, Austria and China.
