China: Freudenberg expands in Shenzhen; Evosys Laser establishes subsidiary in Suzhou

Freudenberg Medical, a global developer and manufacturer of medical devices, components, and minimally invasive solutions for the medical device industry, says it has added on 1,200 sq m to its medical manufacturing operation in Shenzhen, China. The investment has expanded the cleanroom by an additional 600 sq m; able to accommodate ten injection moulding machines.
Additional space has been allocated for a new tool room and warehouse operations. Operation of the new cleanroom began in March with four new moulding machines and auxiliary equipment, says the firm.
“The new machines will extend our moulding machine tonnage capacity to 280 tonnes and enable production of larger medical device parts as well as higher cavitation of small components,” said Terry To, General Manager of Freudenberg Medical Asia.
New associates were also hired to support the expansion; these include Project Engineer, Tooling Engineer, Tooling Technician, Metrologist, and Molding Technician. Freudenberg Medical Asia manufactures and assembles medical devices and components in thermoplastic and silicone material. Other services include metrology, scientific moulding, D.O.E, heat staking, ultrasonic welding, pad printing, and liquid dispensing capabilities. The new cleanroom is certified ISO 14644-1 and the facility is certified ISO 13485 and FDA registered.

Meanwhile in other news, just two years after the market entry of Evosys Laser in Germany, Europe and the US, it has set up its own branch office in Asia – in Suzhou, China. Managing Director Frank Brunnecker:
"It was planned from the outset to provide our customers in China - mostly from the automotive and consumer electronics sectors - with on-site support. Due to the positive business development, this step has now been implemented together with our partner DCT Co. Ltd."
Evosys Suzhou Laser System has a team of five employees who are mainly responsible for sales and service, while a laser plastic welding machine of next generation is available for sampling in the own on-site technical centre.
Evosys Laser GmbH develops and manufactures a new generation of customised laser systems for material processing at its Erlangen site in Germany. With the many years of market and process experience of its employees, the company says it offers creative and innovative solutions worldwide for integration into automation solutions. The company's core competence is laser welding of plastics.
In addition to mechanical engineering, the company also offers a range of services from design consulting and sample production in its own pilot plant to after-sales service.
