China's automotive sector drives ahead

While no one can deny that the fast-growing trajectory for China's plastics industry has come to a halt and is replaced with a slower and steady growth curve, the country is still the world's largest producer of vehicles. Thus, OEMs and suppliers require the latest technologies to improve methods of production and new materials to augment car makers needs.

Hence, Chinaplas 2015, that runs from 20-23 May at the CIEFC, Pazhou, Guangzhou, offers visitors a host of moulding technologies for the automotive sector under one roof.

At the Design X Innovation, jointly organised by the organiser Adsale and BASF, the Innovation Gallery showcases a BMW i3, which boasts as the first vehicle of its kind to make extensive use of carbon fibre-reinforced plastics (CFRP) in the entire chassis and structural parts. Other eye-catching exhibits include the smart urban transport e-floater.
