Freudenberg Medical building

Freudenberg Medical, part of the Freudenberg Group and a global manufacturer of medical devices, components, and minimally invasive solutions for the medical device industry, will soon begin the construction of a new medical manufacturing facility in Beverly, Massachusetts, located north of Boston. Freudenberg Medical has manufactured medical components and devices in nearby Gloucester, Massachusetts, since 1989 and plans to relocate and expand the operation.

The company says it will also set up its global headquarters in the new facility in Beverly.

“The Boston area is one of the leading medical device and biotech clusters in the world with a high concentration of universities and research centres,” said Max Kley, President/CEO of Freudenberg Medical. “Our decision to expand here is a testament to the strong growth of Freudenberg Medical in this region and locating our Global Headquarters in Beverly demonstrates the global role and international orientation of the Boston med device cluster.”

Freudenberg Medical will invest more than US$3 million in a 36,000 sq. ft. operation with plans to employ an estimated 70 people. The site offers opportunity to expand an additional 20,000 sq. ft. The operation will be FDA-registered and ISO 13485 certified with ISO Class 8 cleanrooms for medical moulding and assembly. Construction is scheduled to begin before the end of the year and the facility will be operational in the second half of 2019.

Freudenberg Medical has a long history in the region. The facility in Gloucester, Massachusetts, has been in operation since 1989 and has long been a leading processor of silicone and thermoplastic components for medical and healthcare applications.
