Engel expands facility in Schwertberg

Injection moulding machine maker Engel Austria has opened its latest facility extension at its main base in Schwertberg, which comes 18 months after it opened another extension at the southern part of the facility. The new extension allows for increased storage area for machines destined for clients. “The volume of our orders is going up around the world, so we have to address this expansion by continuing to invest in our sites,” emphasised Peter Neumann, CEO of Engel Holding.

In the past two business years, the privately-held firm has invested some EUR50 million to expand and modernise its Austrian plants in Schwertberg, St. Valentin and Dietach.

The facility in Schwertberg produces more than 2,000 injection moulding machines/year and for some time now, it has had to transport the large injection moulding machines to the St. Valentin plant for initial start-up. Thanks to the new building, sufficient space is now available at the plant. Designed for machines weighing up to 40 tonnes, the new assembly hall also addresses the trend towards larger injection moulding machines.

Engel now produces machines with clamping force of up to 650 tonnes in Schwertberg. One of the biggest machines manufactured on the site is the new e-speed high hybrid machine.
