Plas-Tech Thermoforming expands Scotland operations, acquires injection moulding firm

East Yorkshire, Scotland-based Plas-Tech Thermoforming, specialising in the manufacture of engineered vacuum-formed plastic components, has recently expanded its operations by acquiring the specialist injection moulding company, Protomould, based in Kirkcaldy, Fife.

The takeover will enable the two companies to combine their tooling service to their customer base, and offer thermoforming and injection moulding expertise.

Plas-Tech has seen year-on-year growth since its establishment in 1994, and now employs 83 people at its 4.5-acre site. Protomould will be run as a sister company under the new name of Protomould Plastics Limited as part of the Poly Plastics Limited group.

John Jarvis, Managing Director of Plas-Tech, also becomes Managing Director of Protomould Plastics, and will use his Management Team to assist the Production Team at the Kirkcaldy plant. James Bell, Management Trainee at Plas-Tech, will help with the handover for the first month where he will be a Plas-Tech contact onsite at Protomould.

Plas-Tech’s Chairman, Rick Rial, says, “From starting off as a small operation in 1994, we’ve seen great growth and success over the years. Our expansion will help us to build on the strength of both companies, offer new and better services to our customers, and continue to grow in the future.”
