Husky holds two medical-focused events in Shanghai

Canadian machine maker Husky Injection Molding Systems held two events in China recently: the Schöttli Medical Conference and the MedTec China show, both taking place in Shanghai.

The Schöttli Medical Conference was part of the Husky World Tour. The conference was attended by 50 participants and featured presentations, discussions, and networking opportunities with Husky and other experts across the industry.

The Husky World Tour 2015 is a series of global customer events taking place throughout the year, giving customers more direct access to Husky’s technologies at a local level. This year, Husky has participated in a mix of both traditional trade shows (including Plastindia, NPE, and CMEF) and Husky World Tour events.

The medical conference was hosted by Husky via its Schöttli brand. The event provided insight on how Schöttli/Husky solutions can optimise medical manufacturing performance while mitigating risk.

Presentations at the World Tour event included the challenges and opportunities in the medical market and their impact on the plastics industry, as well as system-level solutions for medical applications.

Guest speakers included Russell Tew, Business Development Manager at Borealis, who discussed Innovation in plastics materials for medical applications, and Jack Zuo, Sales Manager China, at Hekuma, who presented on how to improve competitiveness through automation.

Meanwhile, MedTec China allowed Husky to highlight its precision mould-making capabilities for customers in the medical industry in China. The event, organised by UBM, is a manufacturing sourcing event for medical device manufacturers in China.

Held 22-24 September at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Centre, the show provided opportunities for customers to seek out design and manufacturing technology for medical devices. This year, the exhibition scale increased by 30%, covering the entire upstream industry chain, and featured ten product zones. The show was attended by over 10,000 visitors.

“Both of these events in China were great ways for us to connect with local customers, and showcase our capability in the plastics medical industry. Both the Husky World Tour event and the MedTec show were well attended by medical professionals, offering us a great platform to showcase the high-precision medical parts that Schöttli is known for. Schöttli, a Husky company since 2013, exemplifies quality and reliability, and these venues allowed us to highlight that expertise,” said Henry Zhang, Husky’s Director of Business Development for Medical and Specialty Packaging.
